Regensburg, Germany, Tokushima, Japan (October 16, 2025) - AMS Osram and Japan Asia announced the deepening of their long-term partnership in the field of intellectual property (IP). Aldo Kamper, CEO of AMS Osram Group, and Hiroyoshi Ogawa, President of Nichia Corporation, jointly signed a comprehensive cross licensing agreement, covering thousands of patent innovations in the fields of LED and laser technology between the two parties.

According to the agreement, both parties will share a patent library for nitride LEDs and laser components, and for the first time include high-end LED packaging and LED modules (including matrix headlight technology) in the scope of authorization. This cooperation further consolidates the industry-leading IP protection system built by both parties for customers.

For decades, both parties have continuously invested heavily in research and development. The new patent cross licensing agreement provides customers who use its patented technology with more comprehensive IP security protection. The two companies have a long history of cross licensing agreements, which have been ongoing since 2002 and were updated in 2010. This new agreement covers the research and development achievements of the past 15 years.
