Cleaning appliances open, intelligent MCU is the key variable

At the 8th Electric Tool Control and Charging Technology Seminar and Clean Appliance Technology Innovation Forum, Liang Feng, Product Marketing Manager of Zhaoyi Innovation MCU Business Unit, gave targeted sharing. Control scheme becomes a breakthrough point in the industry


The clean electrical industry has undergone more than 20 years of development, and technological competition is becoming increasingly fierce. Liang Feng pointed out that the product matrix of mainstream manufacturers has gradually extended from core categories such as floor sweepers, floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and window protectors to sub sectors such as courtyard robots, swimming pool robots, and lawn mowers, and the industry penetration rate continues to rise.


 


From the perspective of core products, floor sweepers are constantly upgrading in intelligence and technological experience, with functions such as mapping, obstacle avoidance, automatic cleaning, robotic arm control, and remote control becoming more mature; The floor scrubber achieves a leap from "usable" to "easy to use", with significant advantages in cleaning hard surfaces, handling mixed dry and wet garbage, and cleaning efficiency. This poses higher requirements for the main control chip MCU: on the one hand, it needs to continuously improve computing power to adapt to intelligent requirements, and on the other hand, as the sweeping machine solution is iterating from "main control+floor brush+wireless module separation" to integration, MCU also needs to have rich on-chip resources such as large packaging, multiple IO ports, and multiple serial ports.

Divided by core computing power, its products cover M4 to M33 cores, with a main frequency of approximately 150MHz. Core products cover all scenario requirements


Zhaoyi Innovation has several products that have been widely used in the industry. Among them, GD32VW553 dual-mode wireless MCU supports Wi Fi 6 and BLE 5.2, with rich IO resources, which can perfectly adapt to floor scrubber applications. The chip adopts RISC-V core, with a main frequency of 160MHz, supports up to 4MB Flash and 320KB SRAM, and also integrates security modules such as CAU, HAU, TRNG, CRC, ECC, EFUSE, etc. to ensure data security. Zhaoyi Innovation has simultaneously launched four modules based on this chip, positioned as the "ultimate cost Wi Fi 6 module", further reducing the application threshold for customers.


 




Another important product is the GD32W515 MCU, which uses Cortex? -M33 core, with a clock speed of up to 180MHz, has a large storage capacity, supports up to 2MB Flash and 448KB SRAM, and adopts QFN36 and QFN56 small package design, suitable for space limited scenarios.


 


Liang Feng stated that in response to the market's sensitive demand for costs, Zhaoyi Innovation has selected products from the GD32 series to form a value-added product line, achieving the goal of optimizing costs while balancing computing power and resources moderately. Taking GD32C231 as an example, does it use ARM?  Cortex? -M23 core, supporting a wide power supply voltage of 1.8V-5.5V, with a deep sleep current of less than 5 μ A; In response to the security requirements of industrial scenarios, the storage unit integrates ECC and CRC verification functions to provide critical security guarantees for entry-level products. At present, this product is suitable for small single motor control, low-cost battery management, and small sensor node MCU control in the field of clean appliances.


 


Three major solutions to address the pain points of cleaning electrical appliances


At this conference, Zhaoyi Innovation presented multiple cleaning appliance product solutions based on the GD32 series chips.


 


The first one is the integrated solution of GD32F5+GD32VW553 floor scrubber: among them, GD32F5 is responsible for controlling multiple types of motors (including brushless motors, brushed motors, servos, speed measuring wheels) and driving LCD serial port screens with abundant resources; GD32VW553 is responsible for wireless communication control function, supports WeChat mini program Bluetooth distribution network, and can also complete distribution network in SoftAP mode through Alibaba Cloud "Cloud Intelligence". It can also demonstrate motor start stop operation.


 


The second one is an obstacle avoidance laser solution jointly developed with partner Huanchuang, which is based on the GD32W515 chip and can be compatible with both CMOS and laser sensors. This scheme can achieve millimeter level laser ranging scanning at a fixed frame rate per second within a field of view angle of 115 °, and generate spatial plane point cloud information, providing accurate data support for obstacle avoidance of cleaning equipment.




 


The third solution is a one-stop cleaning appliance solution, which is built with a complete hardware architecture consisting of GD32E503 MCU and GD30BM2016 BMS AFE chip. Among them, the GD30BM2016 BMS AFE chip has powerful functions and supports 3-16 series battery voltage detection; The voltage detection accuracy of the 16 bit ADC reaches ± 5mV; it has one built-in temperature sensor and can be connected to nine external NTC resistors for temperature measurement; Supports up to 8 strings of simultaneous balancing, with a maximum balancing current of 80mA; supports multiple protections such as COV, CUV, SCD, etc; Integrated high-performance high edge driver, supporting parallel and serial port charging and discharging modes. The entire solution supports the SOC/SOH algorithm for ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate batteries, with real-time monitoring, alarm, and protection functions for parameters such as voltage, current, and temperature. It has multiple communication interfaces to achieve interactive control with BMU, and can also perform balanced management of battery cells based on balanced management strategies, improving cell consistency and extending service life. This solution can be used for floor sweepers, floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and mobile home storage.
